Installing Used Systems!

The DirecWay satellite system is comprised of satellite modem(6000) or modems (4000) and a satellite dish. You will need to check to see if you have a clear view to the southeast. Direcway is using a satellite called IA8 for their used equipment re-installs. It is located at 120deg west on the west coast and 147deg west in the middle of the country and 217deg west on the east coast. Elevation is 29deg on west coast 42deg in the middle and 40deg on the east coast. All parmeters are close but approx. After verifying your line of site to the satellite, you will need to mount the dish to the side of your home or on the roof or using a 2 3/8 inch steel pole in the ground at least 5' high. After your dish is mounted run two rg 6 coaxial cables from the dish to a ground block. From the gound block to the modem(s) in the house. Make sure not to cross the lines. Mark the receive cable with a label or a piece of tape. On a 4000 system go ahead and install the software on your machine and when asked plug in the usb cable to the modems, be sure you have the modems powered on.  Once youve hooked up the lines go to the antenna pointing program located in the direcway menu. (For 6000 modems go to http://192.168.0.1/fs/registration/setup.html and access registration installer. After putting in your zip code select IA8 e frequency/satellite and hit next. Depending on which modem you have either hit next or display signal strength. Once youve got to that screen have someone at the dish location moving it in small increments  to the west then to the east. (Having a 2 way radio or cell to home phone helps alot) Watch for anything above 31 on the signal strength. It wont get above 30 unless your on the right satellite. Then peak the dish for maximum strength. (around 55 to 65 is normal) Once the signal has been peaked go ahead and hit next to do a manual cros-pol. (this is the level of interference between receive and transmit) Once you have the skew fine tuned and passing lock it down and select automatic after passing automatic you can move on  to the registration server. When prompted enter you SAN # and pin # given to you by direcway. Once your through the registration process the unit will re-boot and you will be up and surfing. *Its best to get the unit setup and ready to go to registration and then call Direcway to get an account setup. They will give you a San# and pin # at that time. 

If you don't have the IA8 satellite in the pull down menu, go to www.dwsatellite.com/direcway   and download the file sbcNAD090905.cfg after downloading it use the upload config file option on the registration page. (note this only applies to DW6000 and 7000 models) For satellite parameters for the DW4000 ask Direcway when you setup your account which satellite your on.
